  1. Juris Doctor (JD)

This degree program is a three-year full-time program. Students who complete this degree can apply for admission to practice law in Australian jurisdictions and can practice law in many overseas jurisdictions. The course mainly cultivates students’ core skills, so that students have the basic skills to be able to engage in law and other industries.

This degree accepts applications from law undergraduate or law undergraduate students.

Juris Doctor is a Master’s law degree, not equivalent to Doctor of Laws (LLD or Doctor of Laws).

  1. Master of Laws (LLM)

The University of Melbourne’s Master of Laws is a taught master’s program with a duration of one year (part-time). The course is taught by senior professors of the school, well-known scholars at home and abroad, famous justices in the judicial field, and outstanding lawyers in the industry. This internationally recognized degree is designed to deepen students’ knowledge and understanding of the legal field.

The law school offers two research degrees: Master of Philosophy (MPhil) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

-Master of Philosophy (MPhil) schooling is 1.5-2 years (full-time)

-Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) schooling is 3-4 years (full-time)

Both degrees require students to undertake a substantial independent and original study under academic supervision. Research papers will be externally reviewed by internationally recognized academics with in-depth knowledge of the research subject matter.
